I'm an (currently unemployed) computer professional type with interests in literature, hiking and backpacking, mathematics, artificial life, software design and development, the organization of organizations and I'm not entirely sure what else.
Some tidbits :
I spent four years in the Peace Corps in Zaire (now Congo - Democratic Republic of the) in the Shaba/Katanga region teaching math and physics.
I'm currently a member in the local (Union County Oregon) Search and Rescue group.
I'm gay.
I have way too many books. I'm interested in books with a signficant graphic component (though not necessarily graphic books) and oddities.
I've done both teaching and industry work doing software design and development.
I have a PhD in computer engineering as well as degrees in Computer science, mathematics and Library Science.
The web as a self organizing system and as a way for people (as opposed to corporations) to communicate may be the most important thing to hit the world in a long time - as long as governments and corporations dont kill it.
I have a program that tries to evolve (using evolvable grammars) plants and music. This is about the fourth version and its not done, but asking me about it might help motivate me.
